Importing a Database

Databases created by some applications can be directly imported into My Family Tree without the need for GEDCOM. This process is called direct import and helps ensure all data is migrated from your existing database.
Direct import is very useful when you do not have a GEDCOM file containing your family tree data. This can happen when the orignal application you used to create a database is incompatible or no longer available for your version of Windows. It can also help in situations where the original application has limited or no support for GEDCOM.
Import a database using direct import
To import a database, use the Open… command from the Welcome screen or main application menu. The table below gives the database formats which are supported. You are encouraged to use direct import for all these database formats.
