My Family Tree Online Help
Privacy
Protecting personal data is important in the modern world. To help, there are two privacy settings available in My Family Tree. The "Read only" setting can be used to prevent accidental changes to a person's information, multimedia files or story. The "Private" setting prevents information about a person from being exported or printed.
Sometimes, you may want to quickly protect living peoples' details in exported reports or shared files. In these cases, use the "Hide living people" option on the Save As, Save As Webpage, Places Report, Timeline Report or Backup and Share dialogs. When exporting GEDCOM files, information about people marked as private is not exported. Information about private people is not included in statistics or family tree print outs.
